Dr Humeira Iqtidar is Reader in Politics at King's College London. Her research interests bring together postcolonial theory, critical theory and comparative political theory with a focus on modern South Asian Islamic thought. Thematically, her research has been concerned with the place of religion in contemporary political imagination, the politics of knowledge, and the legacies of colonialism. She is the author of Secularising Islamists? Jamaat-e-Islami and Jamaat-ud-Dawa in Pakistan (University of Chicago Press, 2011) as well as numerous articles in premier disciplinary journals such as Journal of PoliticsPolitical TheoryReview of Politics and Critical Inquiry. Dr. Iqtidar’s research has featured in interviews and articles in The GuardianBBC World ServiceVoice of AmericaDer SpiegelSocial Science Research Council OnlineThe DawnExpress Tribune and Open Democracy. She is the editor of the McGill-Queens Series in Modern Islamic Thought (along with Professor Qasim Zaman). Most recently she was the winner of the British and Ireland Association for Political Thought Mid-Career Award.
