ODID-Oxfam India webinar: Time to Care: the intersection between social norms, unpaid care work and gender-based violence

Conveners: ODID, Oxfam India and IndOx

Speakers: Amitabh Behar; Diya Dutta; Nandini Gooptu (Chair).

This is the first webinar in a new series co-organised by Oxfam India and the Oxford Department of International Development.

In this webinar, the findings from the Oxfam India Inequality Report 2020 study on the intersection between Social Norms, Unpaid Care Work, and Gender-Based Violence will be presented. The global perspectives on the issue and key recommendations for practitioners and policymakers will also be discussed.

This formative research aims to unpack and highlight the intersections between violence against women and the unpaid care work they perform. A little explored area of knowledge, this intersection became the springboard for Oxfam India’s Inequality Study in 2020.

The webinar will be chaired by Nandini Gooptu, Associate Professor of South Asian Studies at ODI and Fellow of St. Anthony's College. Oxfam India’s CEO, Amitabh Behar, will deliver the keynote from the work in India around inequality and discrimination, followed by a presentation of the findings of the study by Dr. Diya Dutta.
