Salary and Grade:        Grade 7, salary on the scale within the range £32,817 to £40,322 p.a.

Details:                          Full time / 37.5 hours per week, 12 months from 1 October 2021

 

Applications are invited for the position of Departmental Lecturer in South Asian Studies which is available from 1 October 2021 for 12 months.

Based in the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies (OSGA) you will engage in research-led lecturing, teaching and supervision of graduate students on the MSc and MPhil programmes in Modern South Asian Studies.

The successful candidate will contribute to the MSc/MPhil Core course. In addition they will teach, and provide tutorials for the 8 week “The Economic Development of South Asia” option paper offered in Michaelmas Term 2021.

The successful candidate will also contribute to the OSGA research methods training programme and to the administration of the CSASP programme as determined by the Head of School and the Director of CSASP.

You will have a doctorate in a relevant disciplinary and area studies field, either complete or submitted and awaiting examination. You will possess an aptitude and enthusiasm for teaching and a demonstrable record of conducting high-quality teaching and research across South Asian Studies with a particular reference to the Political Economy of South Asia.  You will also have a sound knowledge of relevant research methods (quantitative and qualitative), particularly as they relate to Area Studies.
