At the recent Modern South Asian Studies Examination Board, the Barbara Harriss-White Thesis Prize for an MSc thesis was awarded to two graduating students: Abhishek Ranjan Datta and Rachael Lindsay.
Abhishek's research was entitled Language, market and identity in an EFL Teaching Centre in Delhi and Rachael's Agency in a quake in time - an ethnographic study of jokes about the future amongst Pakistani migrant youth.
The examiners were very impressed with both theses and for the second time this year were left with no alternative but to award two prizes.
We send our congratulations to both the winners and the authors of the other four MSc theses also receiving distinction marks.
