Associate Professorship in the International Relations of South Asia

School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies and Department of Politics and International Relations in association with St Antony's College, Oxford

Grade 10a: From £45,562 p.a.

We are seeking to appoint a permanent Associate Professor in the International Relations of South Asia, to be held in the School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies (SIAS) and the Department of Politics and International Relations (DPIR), in association with a Non-Tutorial Governing Body Fellowship at St Antony’s College under arrangements described in the further particulars.

The successful candidate will have a broad research interest across the region of South Asia situating the region in its global context and should be familiar with and committed to Area Studies as an intellectual enterprise. You will be expected to teach and supervise at the graduate level, in particular teaching on the MSc and MPhil in Modern South Asian Studies, MSc Politics Research, the MPhil in International Relations and the MPhil in Comparative Government. As well as engaging actively in research, knowledge exchange with various stakeholders and participate in the administrative work of both departments. You will have a doctorate in International Relations or a closely related field. An outstanding, world-class portfolio of research and publications in the international relations of contemporary South Asia or cognate fields, and an exciting future research programme which could include the empirical, historical and theoretical foundations of the international relations of contemporary South Asia. You will demonstrate experience of collaborative teaching, research and conference organisation across academic disciplines and linked to regions outside South Asia and teaching experience at the postgraduate level, including thesis supervision and assessment of post-graduate degree programmes. You will be able to show the skills and commitment to contribute effectively to teaching, supervision and academic administration in both SIAS and DPIR.

Associate professors who are awarded the title of full professor may receive from the University an additional salary payment of £2,655 p.a.
