I am a political scientist affiliated with Brandeis University in the United States, where I recently completed my PhD. Over the next year, I will be an Academic Visitor at CSASP within the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies under the mentorship of Prof. Nayanika Mathur. My research interests lie at the intersection of judicial politics, civil-military relations and democratization. Currently, I am working on a project that examines whether courts can challenge politically powerful militaries and bring them under civilian control in authoritarian and post-authoritarian states, and focuses primarily on Pakistan. I am also working on smaller projects that examine how judiciaries deal with questions of national security in states with powerful militaries, and the role judiciaries play in legitimizing and sustaining military coups.
