Dr Diego Maiorano is a Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellow at the School of Politics and International Relations, University of Nottingham. He has a PhD from the University of Torino, Italy. His dissertation was published as ‘Autumn of the Matriarch - Indira Gandhi’s Final Term in Office’ (Husrt & Co./Oxford University Press/Harper Collins), 2015. He is now working on a project titled ‘The Paradoxes of Empowerment - Women, Dalits and Employment Guarantee in India’ funded by the Leverhulme Trust and the Swedish Research Council. He has published in journals like World Development, Modern Asian Studies and the Economic and Political Weekly.
